Elizabeth and Daniel
Modern meets Vintage Floral filled elopement shoot in Rhodes Island, Greece
Rhodes is such an interesting island. The streets hide so much history and castles with ghosts of knights strolling in their shining armor. We felt such a strong connection with the island and the substance the landscape brought to our photography. For us, interesting concepts are always what makes an editorial successful. The more interesting the style, the more visually dynamic. This wedding inspiration was ticking all the boxes. We loved the unique color combination, warm tones so elegantly woven with the cool ones. It was like mixing sunrises and sunsets together to create the perfect palette.
Our stationery by Manousenia Design was truly one of a kind. We loved how different elements like the simple and elegant calligraphy, the hand-painted map designs of the island and the invitations with the traditional patterns were combined with dried hibiscus and orchids in the styling. All those textures and colors were so elegantly fused, something truly refreshing and a unique answer to the more traditional stationery of the one or two colors.
The floral arrangements by Golden Apple Weddings were a dream! The muted calla lilies and the pale peach and pink roses worked perfectly with the speckled orchids and the dusty pink carnations. We loved how there was no greenery involved, that made everything more luxurious. Also, the bouquets (yes, there were two!) were perfect! One pink toned and wonderful with some ochre shades, the second one overflowing with white and pink orchids! Perfection, right?
For the table setting, inspired by the island’s local haute pottery, the teal hand-painted plates with the gold rimming were so unique! Also, gold cutlery (of course!) and silver candle holders made everything ultra-refined!
Brides always need flowers, but who says they need to be fresh ones? Elisabeth’s headpiece was a floral masterpiece on fine metal and precious stones. Moreover, the wedding dress by MadeBride was overflowing with applique flowers and silk blossoms making this a gown out of a fairytale, sparkling in the sunlight. Daniel was looking as dashing as it gets in his suit and silk pocket square, but more importantly in his all-white vintage Morgan Motor. He swept Elisabeth off her feet!
The contemporary round arch and the vintage cocktail area setting created such an eclectic atmosphere. Velvet, metal and wood, modern versus vintage, old versus new. Royal looking wedding cake and newfangled finger food, eternally chic champagne and state of the art cocktails! Really, the whole concept was a celebration between binding the old and the new. Capturing this was such a wonderful experience. The mansion was breathtaking and the setting by Secret Owl and the talented event planners, Golden Apple Weddings – well, that was a masterpiece! At the end of the day, we could only look at the portraits and smile!
